The online conference organized by the Latvian Nature Foundation and the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre has ended. Three climate-friendly farming methods were discussed at the conference.
Since 2018, the Latvian Fund for Nature together with partners – Institute for Environmental Solutions, Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre, Czech Center for Science and Society has been implementing the LIFE CRAFT project. The project practically tests and demonstrates three different methods - no-till, biochar application in the soil and controlled drainage, which allow reducing CO2 and other GHG emissions, introduces farmers to these methods and collects practical recommendations for the application of these methods in Latvian conditions.
At the conference, experts from Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre, Institute for Environmental Solutions, Czech Center for Science and Society and Latvian Fund for Nature presented these innovative, climate-friendly agricultural methods and the results of their testing in Latvia. Aivars Cimermanis, the owner of Z/S "Angi" also shared his experience story.
