The science and art exhibition "Lauka pētījumi", created by the Institute for Environmental Solutions, will open on 1 July, from 14.00.
Visitors will be able to go on tours with the exhibition's creative team, see performance by Linda Boļšakova, artists' duo IevaKrish and Ērika Eriksona performance “Tuvumā Tukšums” performative acts and a sound performance by Maksims Šenteļevs and Rostislavs Rekutas-Džordževičs.
For more than a year, artists and scientists from Latvia and foreign countries have been working together to answer the question - how to live in balance between nature, human desires and needs? Expanding the notion on the surrounding environment, the results of this research will be presented in the Cēsis castle manor barn, which for the duration of the exhibition will be transformed into a space for processes and experiments with installations, soundscapes, texts, films and performances.
Alongside the artworks, there will also be a selection of Latvian short films "Dabiski" by filmmaker and critic Žulijens Nuhums Kulibali, made in collaboration with 25th Riga International Short Film Festival "2ANNAS".
The participants of the exhibition include installation and performance artist Linda Boļšakova, ethnobotany research group DiGe, choreographers Ēriks Eriksons and duo IevaKrish with singer Jolanta Strikaite, director Mārtiņš Zvirbulis and dancers Emīlija Berga and Marģers Vanags, copywriter and textile artist Sandra Kosorotova, architect and urbanist Līva Kreislere, designer Anete Krūmiņa, ceramist and porcelain artist Esmeralda Purvišķe, sound artist and architect Maksims Šenteļevs, copywriter Alīse Vorobeja, illustrator and muralist Zahar Ze and poet Marija Luīze Meļķe. Joining the exhibition as experts from the Institute for Environmental Solutions - biologist Rūta Abaja, head of the practical entomology laboratory Kristīne Berķe-Lubinska, remote sensing expert Dr. Dainis Jakovels, agronomist Dr. Arta Kronberga, climate ambassador Uģis Rotbergs, landscape designer Dace Zariņa, ILFA researcher Dr. Una Smilgaine, farmers from LIFE CRAFT project and others.
The exhibition at Cēsis castle manor barn and in the Science and Art Centre "Brūzis" will be open from 1 July to 29 August, on Thursdays and Fridays from 14.00 to 20.00, Saturdays and Sundays from 12.00 to 20.00.
